All Eyes Turned as Princess Charlotte Stepped Into the Cathedral, Her Glittering Coronation Tiara Catching the Light Like a Thousand Tiny Stars. In a Moment That Left the Crowd Breathless, She Bowed Her Head Gently—Paying a Heartfelt Tribute to Her Beloved Grandfather, King Charles, in a Gesture That Echoed the Grace of a Future Queen.

The mother-daughter pair wore co-ordinating Alexander McQueen outfits for the historic ceremony

The royal family gathered at Westminster Abbey today for the coronation of King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla. The Prince and Princess of Wales, along with their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, all joined the procession through the church, wearing full regalia, at the request of the king and queen.

It’s the first time that we’ve seen Kate wearing full mantle, which she paired with a glittering leaf tiara – but it was her daughter Charlotte who stole the show, appearing alongside her mother in a matching headpiece; the first time that the young royal has worn a tiara for an official event. But the two tiaras weren’t historic royal family heirlooms as might be expected – they were in fact bespoke pieces made by British fashion house Alexander McQueen in partnership with milliner Jess Collett.

Both headpieces were made from silver bullion and crystal, with silver threadwork and three-dimensional leaf embroidery.

The eight-year-old paired her impressive diadem with a sweet white cape and dress – both also by Alexander McQueen – and ballet pumps, with her hair up in similar plaited chignon. Her ivory silk crepe cape featured satin stitch embroidery with rose, thistle, daffodil and shamrock motifs, to signify the four nations.

The Wales family were joined by other members of the royal family for the historic ceremony, including Prince Harry, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, as well as other foreign dignitaries and world leaders. Other celebrity guests in attendance included the likes of Katy Perry and Lionel Richie – who are both performing at the coronation concert – as well as Dame Joanna Lumley and Dame Emma Thompson.
