The Princess of Wales wore a familiar dress from a previous holiday event.

Kate Middleton stepped out in festive fashion on Tuesday as she joined members of the British royal family for King Charles’s annual pre-Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace.

For the occasion, Kate wore a red polka-dot dress by Alessandra Rich, a piece first seen in 2019 during her appearance on the BBC special A Berry Royal Christmas. She paired the dress with a black velvet hair bow by Miu Miu and Van Cleef & Arpels Magic Alhambra earrings. She previously wore the earrings during a 2022 State Visit to the Bahamas.

Kate arrived with Prince William and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. The family’s longtime nanny, Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo, also joined them. On this occasion, Charlotte coordinated with her mother in a burgundy velvet dress. Earlier this month, Charlotte and her brothers all matched their father in navy outfits for their mother’s carol service.

December has been exceptionally busy for Kate, starting with the German State Visit and State Banquet during the first week, immediately followed by her annual Christmas carol service at Westminster Abbey.

King Charles’s annual Christmas lunch is held each December and serves as one of the final family gatherings on the royal calendar before the holiday itself. The event typically brings together working royals and extended family members ahead of the holiday period and is held separately from the monarch’s official Christmas Day engagements.

The children’s longtime nanny, Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo, can be seen with the family.

This year’s holiday luncheon was well-attended. Aside from the Wales family, other guests included Princess Anne and Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh with their daughter Lady Louise Windsor. Princess Margaret’s children, Lady Sarah Chatto and Lord Snowden also attended, the latter of whom arrived at Buckingham Palace on a bicycle.

Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice were also seen arriving at Buckingham Palace, both of whom missed the Princess of Wales’s carol service earlier this month. However, their parents, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson, did not appear to attend the King’s Christmas luncheon.
