The world watched with bated breath as Meghan Markle walked down the aisle in St George’s Chapel on May 19, 2018, to wed Prince Harry. While their Windsor wedding looked like a fairytale, Meghan’s journey to the altar was not exactly drama-free. Harry opened up on the drama behind the scenes in his tell-all memoir, Spare, where he claimed Meghan and Princess Kate clashed over ill-fitting bridesmaid dresses. The Duke of Sussex alleged the Princess of Wales texted Meghan four days before the wedding, concerned about the shape of the dresses. Kate, according to Harry, complained that the gown was “too big, too long and too baggy” and said her daughter, Princess Charlotte, sobbed when she tried it on.

Meghan seemingly asked Kate if she could get the dress altered, but the latter reportedly said it needed to be remade.
Harry claimed he found Meghan “sobbing” on the bathroom floor following the tense exchange with Kate.
Reports initially suggest Meghan made Kate cry, but the Duchess of Sussex told Oprah Winfrey the “reverse happened” and Kate upset her, but later sent apology flowers.
The issue was cleared up in Yes, Ma’am: The Secret Life of Royal Servants, which royal staffer Tom Quinn wrote.
He shared: “The truth is that during the discussions about the bridesmaid’s dress, Meghan said a few things she regretted and Kate said a few things she later regretted, but it was all in the heat of the moment.”
However, the tailor Ajay Mirpuri told The Daily Mail: “If anything happened in the background, it didn’t happen in front of me.
“They were faced with a problem, as anyone gets at a wedding, with last-minute hitches. I can understand why anybody would be upset if the dresses weren’t fitting – it’s nerve-wracking.”
