SHOCK: “TERRIFYING” IMAGES OF DIOGO JOTA’S BODY LEAKED. DO YOU DARE TO SEE THEM?
By Newsroom | July 22, 2025
The football world was shaken this Tuesday by a disturbing revelation: images of Portuguese footballer Diogo Jota’s body, allegedly taken during an official autopsy, have leaked online. The photos, which have already been verified and authenticated by the police, depict scenes many have described as “shocking” and “disturbing.”
The release of these images has sparked a fierce ethical debate and reignited questions about the right to privacy for public figures—even after death. Jota’s family has not made an official statement, but sources close to them say they are devastated by the leak, calling it an act of profound inhumanity.
What the images show
The images, circulating in private social media groups and obscure internet forums, show Diogo Jota’s body lying on a metal autopsy table. According to authorities, the photos were taken inside the Lisbon Institute of Legal Medicine just hours after the player’s death, which remains under investigation.
The images reveal multiple bruises and injuries, possibly indicating a violent incident. However, the official cause of death has not yet been released, and there is speculation that the athlete may have been a victim of assault or overdose. The Judiciary Police have confirmed that a criminal investigation is underway.
Social media reactions
On X (formerly Twitter), Diogo Jota’s name quickly became one of the most talked-about topics worldwide. Thousands of fans expressed shock, sorrow, and outrage over the leaked images. Many are calling for the content to be removed immediately and for those responsible to be identified and punished.
“This is inhumane. Jota was a hero, a human being. He deserves respect—even after death,” one user wrote.
“If you share this type of image, you’re contributing to the dehumanization of victims,” another posted.
Ethical and legal concerns
Legal and medical ethics experts have condemned the leak. According to jurist Pedro Calado, “exposing a body during forensic procedures without the family’s consent constitutes a serious crime in Portuguese territory.” Additionally, any public servant involved in capturing or sharing these images could face criminal charges for breaching professional secrecy.
The Portuguese Medical Association and the Public Prosecutor’s Office have already announced internal investigations to determine responsibility within the Institute of Legal Medicine.
Diogo Jota’s legacy cut short
At just 28 years old, Diogo Jota was one of the leading figures in modern Portuguese football. With standout performances at clubs like Wolverhampton, Liverpool, and the Portuguese National Team, he was known not only for his talent on the pitch but also for his humble and respectful demeanor off it.
His sudden death, now followed by the desecration of his memory through the unauthorized release of such intimate images, has deepened the mourning of his fans and teammates. The football world remains silent and sorrowful as we await answers—and justice.
Should you view the images?
That is the question many are asking themselves. While human curiosity is natural, experts urge caution.
“Viewing these images does not bring us closer to the truth. It only exposes us to potentially traumatic content and contributes to the violation of the victim’s dignity,” says psychologist Carla Moura.
Whether out of respect for the family, the memory of Diogo Jota, or your own emotional well-being, the best decision may be not to click.
