Prince George, 11, second in line to the throne, lives a fairly normal life. He goes to school, plays video games, participates in sports like triathlons, and has chores to do. According to royal expert Hilary Fordwich, Prince William and Princess Kate, 42, have always tried to create as normal a life as possible for their three children: George, Charlotte, 9, and Louis, 6. Moving to Adelaide Cottage, a four-bedroom house on the grounds of Windsor Castle, is also part of this plan.

Since moving to Adelaide Cottage, the Welsh family has not had a live-in maid. Therefore, the Prince and Princess of Wales encourage their children to do housework, including cleaning and cooking. In addition to doing some chores together, each child has their own tasks, similar to what Princess Kate did when she was a child. Expert Fordwich shared with the New York Post: “Princess Kate has been used to housework since she was a child. Her parents are very busy with the business of Party Pieces, founded by her mother, Carole Middleton. Young Kate has participated in developing party products specifically for babies and children, so she understands the power of children being active, actively participating and learning responsibility. Currently, Prince George is assigned to clean the cage of the family’s pet guinea pig.”

While doing chores isn’t something every child dreams of, William and Kate’s children do receive pocket money in return for their help. Royal expert Katie Nicholl told the Mirror that the young family is “much more normal” than people imagine. “They absolutely do chores,” Nicholl revealed. “They’re much more normal than people imagine – the children even do chores in exchange for pocket money. They want a normal, happy, simple family life, which they’re really achieving at Adelaide Cottage.”

As well as chores, the three children still have plenty of time to play after school. They can play on the trampoline in the garden, ride their bikes, help their mother bake and watch TV. The prince’s children are said to be passionate about sport, and Kate has been seen several times watching football matches at their school near their home in Windsor.
