Prince Harry attracted attention when he attended the DealBook Conference in New York alone. Taking this opportunity, journalist and founder of DealBook, Andrew Ross Sorkin, 47, asked Harry about his personal life.
“I Googled you and there are always people who are fascinated by everything you do. They also noticed that Meghan is in California and you are here,” Sorkin said, referring to Meghan’s plans to attend the Paley Honors gala in Beverly Hills on December 5.
“And there were a lot of articles about, you know, why did you go it alone? Why didn’t you two work together?” Sorkin continued.
Immediately, Harry interjected: “Since you invited me, you should know!”. The 40-year-old prince’s answer made the audience laugh.
“Right. Is that normal for you? As soon as the article came out – she’s in California, you’re in New York – everyone was like, ‘Oh, what’s going on with these two?’. In a way, is that good for you, having so much attention on you?” the 47-year-old journalist asked.
“No, that’s definitely not good. Apparently we’ve bought or moved houses 10, 12 times. We’ve been divorced about 10, 12 times. So, like, what the hell?” the Duke of Sussex replied, laughing.
“It’s hard to keep up with their thinking, but that’s why we have to ignore it. The people I feel most sorry for are the spoilers. Their hopes are built up and then it doesn’t happen. So I feel sorry for them.”
Harry also said he had “no doubt” that his conversation with Sorkin “would be twisted or distorted” in some way against him and that Harry would be endlessly trolled. “For that, I can only apologise. But since you invited me, it’s not my fault,” the youngest son of King Charles III joked.

Harry also spoke about his “unsatisfactory” relationship with the press. Harry said he had to live through the “media frenzy” surrounding his late mother, Princess Diana, and her tumultuous marriage to King Charles III .
“I had vivid experiences as a kid. I saw stories written about myself that were completely untrue. I saw stories about family members, friends, strangers, all kinds of people. And I think when you grow up in that environment, you become suspicious of information and what other people think, and how dangerous it is.”
Harry said he is still focused on charity work through the Archewell Foundation, with his “main goal” being “to be the best husband and father he can be”.
Harry married Meghan in 2018 and has two children together, Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3. In 2021, Meghan also appeared alone at the DealBook Conference.
Recently, the royal couple has been attending separate events, creating rumors that they are living apart and possibly divorcing. However, a source close to the Sussexes said that the two are only “separating for their careers” to regain their reputation and focus on doing the work they love and are attached to.
