Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly made it clear through media channels that they are waiting for Buckingham Palace to issue a formal apology. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are said to be deeply frustrated that, despite years of hoping for dialogue, the royal family has never arranged a private meeting for reconciliation.

The couple’s renewed demand has sparked outrage among British commentators, particularly as it comes shortly after the release of their explosive Netflix documentary Harry & Meghan. The six-part series was widely viewed as an unprecedented attack on the monarchy — even more direct than their tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey in March last year.

“The Palace Is Confused”
According to royal experts, the prospect of any reconciliation now appears remote. The Sussexes’ insistence on an apology reportedly left the royal household “baffled.”
A palace insider told The Sun:
“The King has no desire to get into any kind of public tit-for-tat. He refuses to engage until Harry and Meghan acknowledge that they, too, have made mistakes in this family rift.”
Royal correspondent Katie Nicholl of Vanity Fair echoed that view, saying that the monarchy is unlikely to take any conciliatory steps toward the couple:
“Charles understands that a divided monarchy is not what the world wants to see. But Harry also knows William won’t retaliate. The Palace’s ‘never complain, never explain’ approach is absolutely the right strategy here — because any comment would only pour more fuel on the fire. Silence is the best response.”
“Silence as a Message”
Another palace source told reporters that the royal family’s ongoing silence is, in fact, deliberate — “a message in itself.”
“Their duty is to keep working. They’re choosing to lead by example, not argument.”
As King Charles prepares for a busy period of royal duties and the Prince and Princess of Wales continue public engagements, insiders suggest the Palace’s strategy is to rise above the drama — leaving Harry and Meghan to face the consequences of their own words.
