Princess Kate Middleton grabbed all kinds of eye balls in a gathering full of royals at the Armistice Day Service of Remembrance on November 11.

Spending around five minutes with the Long family in front of Squadron Leader Mark Long’s name, the latest addition to the memorial wall before also meeting Bosnia veteran Johnny Hayes.

Her presence offered a quiet, heartfelt tribute to those who have sacrificed for their country.

But while the Princess of Wales was paying respects, online viewers were quick to take issue with the BBC, which repeatedly referred to her by her maiden name, “Kate Middleton.”

Social media lit up with fans insisting that, more than a decade after her wedding and two years into her royal role, the broadcaster should “know better.” Even in moments of reflection, royal etiquette clearly remains a hot topic.

While Kate paid tribute to veterans, military families, and senior officials, many at home were left wondering if the BBC had truly missed the memo.

One tweeted, “Who is the mor*n calling the Princess of Wales ‘Kate Middleton’ on BBC News?” Another fumed, “Am I missing something? Is the BBC now not just left wing but also republican? ‘Kate Middleton’?? ??? How bl**dy disrespectful.”

A third demanded, “Can somebody have a word in the ear of your reporter at the National Memorial Arboretum, she should not be referring to the Princess of Wales as ‘Kate Middleton’!!”
