Biographer says the Princess of Wales is “above” mediating between William and Harry
Princess Kate has stepped back from playing peacemaker between Prince William and his brother Harry, with royal experts suggesting Princess Eugenie may now be the one trying to bridge the gap.
According to royal biographer Andrew Lownie, the Princess of Wales is “above” getting involved in the ongoing rift between the brothers, while Eugenie—who has managed to maintain ties with both—appears more willing to take on that role.
“I think maybe Eugenie wants to be the peacemaker between Harry and William, she has kept in with both of them, but Kate is above all that,” Lownie told Express US.
The author, whose forthcoming book Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York examines the life of Eugenie’s father, Prince Andrew, drew a parallel with King Charles. He explained that while the King may feel a personal responsibility toward his brother, as head of state he has to separate private feelings from public duty—something Queen Elizabeth II also embodied.
Similarly, while Catherine may wish for reconciliation between her husband and Harry, her role as future queen means she cannot continue to act as go-between. That task, it seems, has now quietly shifted to Princess Eugenie.
