The duchess’ funeral began at 2pm (BST). It was a Requiem Mass, as the duchess was Catholic. It was the first Catholic funeral for a member of the royal family in recent history, and the first ever royal funeral at Westminster Cathedral since its construction in 1903.
King Charles, the Prince and Princess of Wales, and other royals were in attendance. Prince Andrew was also present, alongside his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson.
Unfortunately, Queen Camilla was forced to pull out at the last minute due to health issues. Buckingham Palace said she is currently recovering from acute sinusitis.
Following the mass, the duchess’ coffin will be taken to the Royal Burial Ground at Frogmore, Windsor.
