Expert says William is pushing for a tougher stance as Andrew crisis deepens

King Charles has been urged to take a firm line as pressure mounts over the continuing troubles surrounding Andrew and Sarah Ferguson. According to royal commentator Phil Dampier, the monarchy risks serious damage if the King appears hesitant at a time of rising public frustration.
Writing for Woman’s Day, Dampier argued that as long as Andrew and Sarah remain close to the Royal family, many will believe they are avoiding consequences and may even attempt to return to public life. He noted that senior aides view Andrew’s departure from Royal Lodge as essential, warning that anything less will look like a compromise. Dampier added that while the King still feels some sympathy for his brother, he cannot allow that to affect his judgement.
He said William is encouraging his father to stay firm so that these issues are resolved well before he eventually takes the throne.
