Queen Elizabeth II publicly signaled that she regretted that her grandson Prince Harry met his wife, Meghan Markle â calling her âevilâ and their courtship a âcomplete catastrophe,â according to an explosive report.
The longest-serving monarch âsaw through Meghan Markleâ and made the uncharacteristic remarks at a reception in Balmoral in August, weeks before her death, a source close to the royals told the Spectator.
âAt the drinks before the dinner, a small group were talking to the monarch and she explained that Harry meeting Meghan had become a complete catastrophe and described her as evil, the source claimed.
âEverybodyâs eyebrows hit the ceiling,â the source recalled.
âIt was out of character for the Queen to use such a word as âevilâ to describe Meghan, but she saw straight through her.
âIt was a startling sentence to hear from the most forgiving woman on Earth.â
The source suggested that the outburst came because âthe Queenâs health was in declineâ and âshe seemed regretful about how things had panned out.â
The queen and Meghan exchanged glances as Harry smiles on.
Other insiders have also questioned the exiled royalsâ claim that they remained close to the Queen.

It was also proof, the Spectator suggested, that Markleâs relationship with the royals was likely âirreparableâ even last year before Harryâs damning memoir âSpareâ and the coupleâs Netflix docu-series.
Other insiders have also challenged the exiled Californiansâ claim that the Queen was the one senior royal with whom they remained on warm terms.
