Democratic congresswoman Dina Titus resurfaced the widely debunked rumor about JD Vance having sexual intercourse with a couch during a speech at a Kamala Harris rally in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Saturday.
“I got a word for JD Vance, you better hide behind that sofa cause we’re comin’ for you,” Titus said.
It appears to be a reference to a mega-viral joke that emerged after he was announced as Trump’s running mate. A user on X, formerly Twitter, posted a fake excerpt from Vance’s 2016 memoir “Hillbilly Elegy” that included the lewd anecdote.
The X post has since been deleted and the claim was debunked. Yet the joke has received wide attention and been referenced by various high-profile Democrats.

Tim Walz was widely believed to be referencing the rumor during his speech on August 6, just after his announcement as Harris’ running mate, during a rally in Philadelphia.
“I can’t wait to debate the guy,” said Walz. “That is if he’s willing to get off the couch and show up.”
