In November, YouGov – an international Internet-based market research and data analytics company headquartered in the UK but with global reach – conducted a survey on Americans’ fondness for the British Royal Family.

The results showed that Princess Diana was the most popular member of the British Royal Family, with 76% of survey participants voting for her. The following positions were held by the late Queen Elizabeth II (67%), Prince William (58%), Prince Harry (53%), Duchess Kate (52%), Princess Anne (47%), Meghan Markle (46%), King Charles (42%), Prince Edward (37%), Queen Camilla (30%) and Prince Andrew (28%).

In terms of negative ratings, Queen Camilla is the least liked member of the royal family with 37%. Prince Andrew is close behind with 36%, followed by King Charles (34%). Harry and Meghan are in the middle with 24% and 30% respectively.

The numbers suggest that Americans’ views of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are not overwhelmingly negative, and have remained largely unchanged since the royal couple moved to the US in June 2020.

In an interview with The Standard on the same topic, Stacy Jones, founder of marketing company Hollywood Branded (Los Angeles), commented that Harry and Meghan’s influence has been significantly eroded over the past year.

According to Stacy Jones, Hollywood operates on the belief that the projects they invest in will be successful, the partnerships will be profitable, and public perception will remain positive. However, losing the Spotify deal and having no achievements in 2024 has left the Sussexes struggling to regain their footing. In addition, while still welcome, Hollywood’s excitement about Harry and Meghan has cooled compared to their early days in the US.
