According to Leavitt, the idea that Harris suddenly supports Trump’s border wall is “preposterous and false.”
Leavitt didn’t stop there. She meticulously outlined Harris’s record on immigration, painting her as the ultimate “pro-open border” politician. Harris, who as a senator tried to block Trump’s wall and as the so-called Border Czar halted its construction, is now allegedly in favor of the very structure she once opposed so vehemently. It’s a bit like someone swearing off sweets for years, only to be caught with a chocolate cake—confusing and a little hard to believe.
The media’s narrative is based on Harris’s recent support for a bipartisan border bill that, according to some, includes provisions for building a wall. The bill, negotiated by lawmakers across party lines, doesn’t just nod to the idea of a wall; it actually requires it. Republican Senator James Lankford confirmed this, telling Axios that the bill mandates the construction standards set during Trump’s administration, right down to the wall’s height and type.
But here’s where it gets interesting—or perplexing, depending on your perspective. The bill in question isn’t exactly what you’d call a wall-lover’s dream. It slashes the funding for the wall to $650 million, a far cry from Trump’s original $18 billion request.
