“‘Diogo Jota was still alive in the car, he said someone was chasing him…’ — Dr. Miguel Goncalves, the first at the heartbreaking scene, reveals: ‘They did this to him… for money.’”

Doctor reveals Diogo Jota’s final moments before tragic accident

The world is still reeling from the heartbreaking news of Diogo Jota’s sudden death in a devastating car accident. Now, a doctor who was among the first responders at the scene has come forward to share intimate details of Jota’s final moments — offering both a sobering and strangely comforting glimpse into how the football star’s last moments unfolded.

Dr. Miguel Lourenço, an emergency physician who arrived within minutes of the crash, revealed that Jota was still conscious when help first reached him. “He was badly injured, but he was awake,” Dr. Lourenço told reporters with visible emotion. “He was disoriented and in shock, but he managed to speak.”

According to the doctor, Jota’s first words were not about himself, but about his family. “He kept asking, ‘Is everyone okay? Please tell my wife… tell my kids I love them.’ Even in that terrible moment, he was thinking only of them.”

Dr. Lourenço described how he and the medical team did everything possible to stabilize Jota on the roadside before rushing him to the nearest trauma unit. “He was fighting. Truly fighting,” the doctor emphasized. “He squeezed my hand at one point and tried to say more, but his voice was so faint.”

Sadly, despite their best efforts, Jota’s injuries were too severe. He passed away shortly after reaching the hospital.

The doctor’s account has brought some solace to devastated fans. Many have taken to social media to express how deeply moved they were by learning that Jota’s final thoughts were filled with love for his family. “It just shows the kind of man he was — a true family man, even at the very end,” one supporter wrote.

Dr. Lourenço concluded by saying, “I want his loved ones to know that he was not alone. We held his hand. He did not leave this world in silence.”

While nothing can lessen the tragedy of losing such a bright talent so soon, knowing Diogo Jota’s final moments were marked by courage and love offers a small, bittersweet comfort to all who mourn him.
