Diogo Jota Identified as the Driver in the Shocking Lamborghini Accident, Police Reveal New Details
The tragic accident that took the lives of Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva has left the world in shock. Spanish police have now revealed shocking details, confirming that Jota was behind the wheel of the Lamborghini Huracan when it crashed.
The green supercar, valued at £185,000 (approximately 6.5 billion VND), reportedly lost control and veered off the road, bursting into flames on the A-52 highway, near the city of Zamora, Spain, in the early hours of July 4th.
The Incident Unfolds
According to the preliminary investigation, the vehicle was likely speeding when it encountered an issue, possibly a tire blowout while overtaking another car. This could have caused Jota to lose control of the vehicle. Tragically, both Jota and his brother were confirmed dead immediately after the crash.
At the time of the accident, Jota and his brother were reportedly on their way to the port city of Santander, Spain, to catch a ferry back to England. After undergoing lung surgery, Jota was advised by doctors to travel by road instead of by air. Unfortunately, this journey became the final one for the brothers.

The Spanish Civil Guard stated that the full technical report is still being completed and will be sent to the court in Puebla de Sanabria for further processing. Following the accident, a funeral for Jota and his brother was held in their hometown of Gondomar, near Porto, Portugal. It was attended by family, friends, and a few of Jota’s teammates from Liverpool and the Portuguese national team.
According to MailOnline, Rute Cardoso, Diogo Jota’s widow, who married him on June 22nd, could inherit an estimated £35 million in assets, including contracts, properties, and investments. Following Jota’s tragic passing, Rute will be left to raise their three young children on her own.
