Meghan Markle will turn 44 on August 4
As Meghan’s 44th birthday approaches, royal watchers are speculating whether her estranged in-laws will mark the occasion on August 4. According to a former royal insider, the answer is likely yes.
Grant Harrold, who worked as a royal butler between 2004 and 2011, believes King Charles and Queen Camilla will send a birthday message to their daughter-in-law.
Speaking on behalf of online bingo site, Heart Bingo, Grant explained that, when it comes to manners, the royals remain “top of their game”.
King Charles’ ‘birthday gesture’ to Meghan Markle
“As far as the royal family congratulating or wishing a happy birthday, I believe the king and queen will wish her a happy birthday,” he said. “The thing with the royal family is that when it comes to politeness and manners, they are the top of the game. So, I still think they will still honour it. That’s my feeling.”
“I believe the king and queen will wish her a happy birthday.
While Prince William is reportedly unlikely to contact Meghan personally, Grant also believes his wife Kate, Princess of Wales, may send a polite message on behalf of them both.
“Catherine might do it on behalf of her and William,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Grant expects that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will acknowledge Meghan’s birthday on social media as a way of inviting warm wishes from fans and followers.
“I’m sure we’ll see Harry do something on social media,” Grant said. “They’ll try to make people aware it’s her birthday, which is normal. Everyone deserves birthday wishes.”
Prince Harry to gift something ‘extra special’
While relations between Meghan and the royal family may be frosty, there’s no doubt that Prince Harry will go above and beyond to make the day special for his wife.
“He’s quite generous,” Grant noted. “I think he’ll go down the route of buying her jewellery or taking her away on holiday. I’m sure it’ll be something extra special.”
And in true royal tradition, he added, the gift may come with a quirky twist.
Grant said: “The royal family is famous for quirky, fun presents, so who knows. Maybe he might get her a piece of land on the moon. Or he might get her a title as a bit of a joke; you can get these Highland titles.
“He may get something a little bit quirky, a little bit fun. The royals normally try to give each other things that are a little bit different, the sort of things money can’t buy.”
Charles and Harry reconciliation
Meanwhile, Prince Harry has reportedly made a “significant gesture” toward mending ties with the royal family, particularly his father, King Charles.
According to the Mail on Sunday, the Duke of Sussex has offered to share his upcoming engagements with the royal household in advance, aiming to avoid scheduling clashes like his recent Angola trip, which coincided with Queen Camilla’s birthday portrait release.
Earlier this month, sources claimed that Harry’s team met with the king’s aides in London in a private “peace summit”.
The new proposed plan reportedly includes informing both Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace of his movements ahead of time.
