Prince Harry is “probably not overly happy” with wife Meghan Markle’s key strategy when it comes to promoting her brand, an expert has claimed. In recent weeks, the couple’s children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet have featured in several posts on social media made by Meghan for her As Ever lifestyle brand.

It has been a marked change as in previous years, the couple had seemed to keep appearances of their children under wraps – and even now do not show their faces. In one snap, Meghan can be seen holding Lilibet while Archie grabs his mother’s leg. In another video, both children can be seen helping their mum make cookies while in a video from earlier this year, the youngsters can be heard singing a song about their dog Guy, who had sadly died.

But speaking on the Right Royal podcast, royal editor Matt Wilkinson claimed that Harry may not be at all too happy with the children being featured on social media. He explained: “My understanding of this is that up to a certain stage Harry would much rather his children were not seen.

“He doesn’t want them to be [photographed]. He’s got this idea that if he takes them outside of Montecito, that there is a hoard of us out there trying to take photos of his kids.” He added: “Meghan grew up in California, she once said she would like to have a more California-style lifestyle, take them down the beach, go out, do stuff. She doesn’t want to hide them away.”

Harry is known to be extremely protective over his children, and both he and Meghan have said in the past that they want to keep them out of the spotlight.

Last year, a friend of the Sussexes told People how Harry wanted to protect his children by keeping them out of the limelight. They said: “Harry has been reluctant to show his children publicly, not out of a desire to hide them but to protect their privacy and safety from potential threats.

“He wants them to lead as normal a life as possible without the fear of kidnapping or harm.” The friend added: “Harry is determined to ensure that history doesn’t repeat itself,” referring to the death of Princess Diana.

However, Meghan’s seeming softening of this approach might suggest the couple will reveal more and more of their children in the future, according to former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond.

She told the Mirror: “They are clearly fiercely protective of their children. And I think much of that stems from Harry’s experience of having cameras trained on him when he was a little boy – and ever since.

“He showed his contempt for the cameras when he was very young, sticking his tongue out, as he sat in the back of a car with his mother. She told him to stop it very quickly! Of course, seeing only glimpses of them makes them even more interesting to the public. And it brings extra attention to whichever video they appear in, which is commercially valuable.

“Sooner or later, they are bound to release pictures of the children. Otherwise, there’s a real danger that paparazzi will follow them until they get what they want – in the hope that a newspaper or magazine somewhere in the world will buy the pictures.”
